Representatives of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine took part in the  International Meeting of Mine Action National Directors and United Nations Advisers, which took place in Geneva (Swiss Confederation) from 27 April to 03 May.

Ukrainian rescuers were represented at the event by Mykola Didyk, Deputy Head of the Pyrotechnic Works Organization Section of the SESU, and Yuriy Tsykeniuk, First Deputy Head of the Mobile Rescue Centre for Rapid Response of the SESU.
Participants from all regions of the world at the meeting in Geneva addressed the most pressing issues to enhance the effectiveness of demining activities and reduce the risks faced by millions of people in countries whose territories are contaminated with explosive ordnance.

This event was a unique opportunity to hear the views of national mine action authorities and to promote regional cooperation between neighbouring countries that share common mine risk challenges.

The event also focused on the introduction of innovations in mine action.

At the end of the event, Rory Logan, Head of еру Strategies, Performance and Impact Division, together with colleagues from UNMAS and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), briefed on efforts to support mine action in Ukraine. Recently, interaction and cooperation in the field of mine action between Ukraine and international partners has reached new, qualitatively higher levels.
