Divers-sapper of the State Emergency Service improve underwater demining skills in Lithuania
International initiatives worth noting: Ukrainian SES divers-sapper improve their underwater demining skills in Lithuania The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), following its 2025 strategy, continues to support Ukraine in the crucial area of humanitarian demining. As part of the Mine Action in Ukraine project, a specialised training on underwater demining was held. The venue was picturesque Klaipeda, Lithuania. The partners are UNDP and a specialised unit of the Lithuanian police.

The goal is to strengthen the capabilities of Ukrainian deminers in the field of underwater explosive ordnance disposal.
Experienced deminers from the Mobile Rescue Centre of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine - Dmytro Okrukov and Andriy Fedorenko - were invited to the training. During the training, they
- learnt how to search for explosives underwater;
- mastered remote methods of destroying explosives underwater;
- carried out therapeutic decompression using a barocamera to a depth of 50 metres
- learned about international safety protocols, action algorithms and risks associated with underwater demining.

This training is not just training, but a real bridge between countries that connects knowledge, experience and a common goal - to make the world safer. Ukrainian sapper divers continue to fight on an invisible but extremely important front. Together with international partners, they are confidently moving towards victory not only on land but also underwater.
